I recently returned from a trip to Pasadena, California where I had the unique opportunity to gather and discuss mentoring. The notion of mentoring is very important to me because early on in my life I had the privilege of being mentored. I am still being mentored as well as participating in the rewarding ministry of mentoring.

Some very qualified and informed mentors who shared a common passion for mentoring led our discussions. During our two days of meeting we engaged in a journey which examined seven areas within each person's life that must be considered. Areas like vocation, finance, marriage/family, emotional health, etc. Wes Roberts did an excellent job facilitating our discussion and provided key insights for our examination of the mentoring process.

The weather was wonderful and so were the many friendships, some new and some already well established. My good friend Layton Howerton led us in a most interesting time of worship. I would like to express a special word of thanks to Martin Allen and Eric Herron who did most of the legwork.

Mentoring worship leaders and people in general is a meaningful way to invest in some one else and reap the rewards of walking along this journey of life with a fellow believer.
